Evaluations

Here I have linked a few of my prior course tutor as well as teaching evaluations, and will continue to update this section as I receive new evaluations. I am committed to providing students with helpful feedback, as well as incorporating student feedback into revising my teaching strategies.

Brigham Young University - English Language Center (ELC)

Winter 2014: 1) 12:15 am class: Snow FC Writing S2 W14; 2) 1:30pm class: Snow FC Writing S3 W14; 3) and a personal questionnaire I conducted for both classes: Foundations C Writing Evaluations
  • One of the things that I learned from these evaluations was that my students wanted more practice brainstorming. To incorporate more opportunities for brainstorming, I started the classes with a warm-up exercise where they had to brainstorm how to answer sample TOEFL integrated writing prompts, which also served as a springboard for discussion and interaction opportunities.

1:30 Section 2
  • One of the things that I learned these evaluations was that my students want more examples of authentic writing. Because of this, I asked students in the class if I could use their essays as examples for my next class so they can see a model essay for each style of essay that I teach.

  • One of the things I learned from my evaluations was that my students like the PowerPoints that I made for class, but too many PowerPoints can burn them out. After reading this, I decided to provide more variety in ways that I introduce new material into the classroom.

Spring 2013: Academic C Writing Class Evaluations and CORE C Evaluations
  • One of the things that I learned these evaluations that I chose to focus on improving was to speak more slowly in the classroom. Since it was my first time teaching, it was a period where I had many things to learn, and speaking more slowly is something I still strive to do as appropriate for the level.

Brenau University

Spring 2009: English 102 TA
How would you describe your experience with the course tutor?
• It was great. She was very smart and helped us in any way she could. By listening to her and seeing mistakes, I have been able to do a better job at writing.
• Always a pleasure; you can tell she enjoys writing.
• She was very helpful and considerate when giving criticism.
• She was wonderful. She really tried to see my point of view on everything and explain things on my terms.
• She is open and very kind. She does not do the work for me, but allows me to have my own ideas.
